The different fields of knowledge and applications in the scope of IIW are historically dealt with by 18 IIW Commissions.
Each covers different topics of interest, working continuously to advance and innovate in welding and allied processes: IIW truly believes in the cooperative work and the result leads to the development of highly appreciated documents that assist and support the industry, including ISO Standards, IIW Best Practices and IIW Position Statements.

The activities of the IIW qualification and certification system are managed by the Groups of the International Authorization Board; participation may be restricted based on affiliation.
