Standardization and best practices

The community of experts coming from all over the world work together as peers at the IIW Technical Commissions to produce outcomes useful to industry and applications: best practices, position statements and standards have been produced over the years with the scope of assisting industry to solve challenges and improve the manufacturing of welded products.
In 1984, IIW was officially recognized as an International Standardizing Body by ISO, the International Organization for Standardization, working in conjunction with ISO/TC 44, Welding and allied processes. IIW can develop drafts for submission to ISO for further processing (Route I) or develops drafts for submission to ISO member bodies as Draft International Standards, DIS, (Route II). Nine IIW Working Units are involved in the development of ISO standards.
