Welding Industry, National Welding Capabilities and the United Nations'Sustainable Development Goals
The IIW National Welding Capability (NWC) Project aims to help an individual, an industry or government organisation, to establish or improve the NWC in a country and hence the quality of life. To assist a potential “NWC Lead Organisation” to do this, a series of Guidance Notes are being authored by Chris Smallbone, IIW Past President, and will be freely available by downloading from the IIW website. https://iiwelding.org/iiw-jointothefuture/nwc-gn/
These Guidance Notes are based on his experiences, complemented by those of other people and organisations in the welding industry, and help in establishing the optimal NWC building blocks.
The first one, IIW NWC GN 5 Establishing a National Welding Capability (NWC)-NWC Guidance Note GN 5 Implementing the ‘Education, Training, Skills and Careers’ Building Block, shows possible strategies on a Plan-on-a-Page. These strategies can be implemented, supported by appropriate references to examples of past experiences, best practices, sources of information, guidance documents etc, for possible use by the reader in action plans to achieve the NWC objectives. Besides links in the Guidance Note to many references, others are freely available in the IIW NWC Resource Centre.
People are encouraged and welcomed to suggest additional ideas and references to add value to this building block
