Starting in the early 1960s, it has been the responsibility of IIW Commission VI TERMINOLOGY to collect the terms relevant to welding and allied processes and draft their definitions to facilitate the exchange of scientific and technical information and provide an environment to encourage and sustain the transfer of knowledge. In the past, this work has led to the publication of a series of booklets entitled Multilingual Collection of Terms ("MCT"). Thanks to the massive development of information technology during the last decades, these documents are progressively being converted into electronic format.
