The Welding Charity Fund of IIW has been established to financially support initiatives related to welding and allied activities by the objectives of the Association.
The fund is financially supported directly by IIW, through its activities but is open to donations from IIW Member Societies, external organizations and individuals willing to support the fund or specific initiatives of the fund, provided the donor’s activities and goals are aligned with IIW values and objectives.
In 2022, 2023 and 2024 the fund concentrated to support the participation of the Ukrainian welding community in IIW events, activities and initiatives.
Starting with 2025, IIW will support attendance of students and young professionals to the IIW Annual Assembly and International Conference

Applications for the Young Professional and Student Grants 

IIW is pleased to announce that the very first Young Professional and Student Grants are now open.

IIW supports the grants through its Welding Charity Fund and it is designated to assist eligible Young Professionals and Students from outside Geographical Europe in attending the upcoming IIW Annual Assembly and International Conference in Genoa in June. A limited number of applications will be selected to cover the registration fees and airfare to attend the next IIW Annual Assembly in Genoa, Italy.

The following requirements apply:

  1. Age of applicant 35 years or younger
  2. Applicant should live and work/study outside of Geographical Europe
  3. The Employer or student supervisor should authorise (in writing) the attendance
  4. Applicant should be fluent in the English Language
  5. Applications should be sent no later than 20 December 2024

Limited funds are available. All applications will be reviewed by IIW and selected based on different parameters, including (but not limited to):

  • The GDP PC of the country,
  • The applicant’s CV and merits,
  • The applicant’s affiliation and possible benefit from participation,
  • Availability of similar programs offered by the IIW members Society of the applicant’s Country.

Grants will be assigned based on the final decision of the IIW.

The IIW Welding Charity Fund is open for donations

Donations made to the Welding Charity Fund of IIW can make a significant impact for Grant recipients. They not only support the activities mentioned, but also provide unique opportunities for the donors, including:

  • working together cooperatively with other IIW members and key individuals,
  • the possibility of cooperation internationally with other related organisations, and
  • international recognition of your contributions within and by the IIW.

Grant applications are thoroughly reviewed by the Welding Charity Fund of the IIW Committee, with recommendations forwarded to the IIW Board of Directors for their consideration and approval.
