Commission XVII covers a broad range of topics within the welding and joining communities. Our commission has three sub-Commissions, C-XVII-A, C-XVII-B, and C-XVII-C. Between these three sub-commissions, we cover the joining processes of brazing, diffusion bonding and soldering, respectively. In addition, the metallurgical and mechanical property characterization of brazed, soldered or diffusion-bonded materials, components or joints and new filler materials are discussed and evaluated as well. Our objective is to provide the joining research community a place to present the latest work in these areas, while also providing the manufacturing community with a venue to discuss manufacturing issues and the latest equipment design as well as the industrial requirements.
