IIW signed a MOU with UNAM for the development of a Member society in Namibia

The International Institute of Welding (IIW) signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the University of Namibia (UNAM) for the development of a welding association in Namibia. With the support of local industries and other institutional stakeholders, IIW and UNAM will support the local welding community by giving access to global resources and opening opportunities for the education and training of professionals based on the IIW best practices and guidelines.
The MOU was signed in Namibia by the IIW President, Prof Dr. Thomas Boellinghaus and the Vice Chancellor of UNAM, Prof. Dr. Kenneth Matengu.
The University of Namibia is Namibia’s premier institution of tertiary education and is a truly community-based institution, renowned for its academic excellence, outstanding research, and community development projects. It is a diverse institution with a student population from 41 countries from all over the world.
The International Institute of Welding represents the leading global welding community linking industry, research and education, with the mission to advance welding and joining through a worldwide network. IIW is committed to several actions to grow its impact in Africa and Asia and is in contact with several organizations and institutions to reach this goal.
IIW is looking forward to welcoming a new member society from Namibia and to further enlarging its global community.
