Partners
IIW establishes partnerships with various organizations as they support the goals of the IIW in the sector of welding and allied processes.
Since 1984 IIW is officially recognized as an International Standardizing Body by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), working in conjunction with the technical committee 44, Welding and Allied processes (ISO/TC 44). IIW develops drafts within its Commissions for submission to ISO for further processing or direct approval by the standardization committees.
The European Federation for Welding Joining and Cutting (EWF) is the main partner of IIW. The IIW Education Training Qualification and Certification system is jointly developed with EWF (combined qualifications). As such, based on a subcontracting agreement, EWF manages the International Authorization Board of IIW. In addition, IIW supports the International Additive Manufacturing Qualification System for the education, training and qualification and certification of Additive manufacturing personnel.
Springer is the publication partner of IIW. The IIW journal, “Welding in the World – The International Journal of Materials Joining” is published by Springer under the control of the IIW Editorial Board. Springer also publishes a wide series of IIW Books (IIW collection) offering contents developed by the IIW commissions and covering the various aspects of welding and joining, and the IIW Bets practice documents (Springer Briefs).
IIW collaborates with the International Committee for Non-Destructive Testing (ICNDT), to share information, knowledge and networking on NDT, develop joint projects, promote education, training qualification and certification of personnel and support each other to reach common goals.
Istituto Italiano della Saldatura (IIS), the Italian Institute of Welding) supports the IIW through an agreement to offer the services of the CEO and IIW secretariat. The agreement ensures the availability of personnel and facilities and includes full-time management and technical support to the association.
