Welcome Message
In June 2025 the IIW Annual Assembly and International Conference will be held in Genoa, Italy. The Italian Institute of Welding (IIS) will host this event of global importance in a wonderful atmosphere, giving a chance to meet the Italian industry and experiment the Italian culture, hospitality, arts and food as they merge in the city.
The history of Genoa is a mixture of democracy (it was one of the first Republics in the world), commerce (Genoese merchants sailed across the world) finance (the first bank was established in 1407) that has always been open to contamination form different cultures. In modern age, the city has been boosting the industrial culture in Italy, as it originated in the industrial triangle Milan – Turin – Genoa. Nowadays Genoa is a dynamic city aspiring at becoming the cradle of new technologies, with the highest quality of life as a result of size, climate, environment and atmosphere.
IIS selected for the venue the old harbor district, renovated to create a unique working and leisure environment, just in front of the sea. IIS has also designed a set of wonderful events to accompany the IIW ceremonies, including concerts and a visit to the biggest aquarium in Europe.
Participants and accompanying persons will enjoy the city, where all the main attractions are walking distance: old palaces, small shops, attractions, fine arts and local food and wines. At short distance by train or bus, the most beautiful attractions of the “Riviera” can be easily reached, such as Portofino, “5 Terre” (five villages almost uncontaminated by modernity) as well as the many pleasant beaches and seaside villages.
Finally, the International Conference will be held in conjunction with the Italian national welding days (GNS), an amazing event that gathers every other year more than 1500 participants from all over the country. This is also a unique opportunity to get in contact with the Italian industry related to joining and to expand the perspectives for the world of welding.
In a few words, you cannot miss the opportunity to let your business and family meet the Italian hospitality in Genoa!
